Alan Rockwood has broad experience as an economist conducting applied microeconomic
analysis for antitrust, litigation support, regulatory affairs, policy
development, and corporate strategies. He has in-depth experience in basic
industries such as construction, agribusiness, and the energy and extractive
industries, the focus of the latter being leasing activities and competitive
bidding for oil and gas resources. At MiCRA, Dr. Rockwood has consulted
on many matters involving the construction industry on issues such as the
analysis of the likely competitive effects of mergers, the analysis of
monopolization and predatory pricing claims, and the development of bidding
strategies for public projects. He also has experience in technology licensing
and patent infringement cases. He has estimated damages in semiconductor,
telecommunication technology, and artificial sports surface industries.
He has investigated proposed mergers in oil and gas, tissue paper, construction,
and health and beauty aid industries and has examined predatory pricing
complaints.
Prior to joining MiCRA, Dr. Rockwood served nearly ten years as Assistant
Vice Chancellor of the University of Denver and as an adjunct member of
the Department of Economics. In 1996, Eisenhower Exchange Fellowships,
Inc. nominated him to be a USA Fellow to the Republic of Hungary. Previously,
he spent six years as an economic consultant to numerous Native American
Indian tribes working on projects involving mineral leasing and natural
resource development. Before that, he was engaged in policy analysis and
research related to energy and natural resource markets including oil and
gas leasing, deregulation of natural gas, electrical generation, industrial
minerals, and the economics of performance standards. Dr. Rockwood began
his professional career as the corporate economist for the Public Service
Company of Colorado. He has also taught economics at Southwestern University
and the University of Colorado at Denver. |
