Hal Van Gieson joined MiCRA in 1992 and is a Principal
of the firm. He is an expert in antitrust analysis and damage estimation,
and he specializes in the application of econometrics to issues arising
in these areas. Dr. Van Gieson’s consulting experience in antitrust
includes analyses of the following:

the relationship between concentration
and bid prices in the pre-cast
concrete
pipe industry; |
| • |
relevant market for and competitive effects of potential
acquisitions in the newspaper, hospital, synthetic rubber, optical retailing,
cigarette, and
frit
(an input for glazes and enamels) industries; |

estimation of price trends in the recreational marine
engine industry;
and |
| • |
the relationship between concentration and prices in
the cement, flat
glass,
and traffic glass bead industries. |
With respect to damage estimation, Dr. Van Gieson’s consulting experience
includes the estimations of:

synthetic feed industries; |

damages from delayed generic drug entry in the pharmaceuticals industry; |
