Alan Rockwood has broad experience as an economist

support, regulatory affairs, policy development, and corporate strategies.
He has in-depth experience in basic industries such as construction,
agribusiness, and the energy and extractive industries, the focus of
the latter being leasing activities and competitive bidding for oil
and gas resources. At MiCRA, Dr. Rockwood has consulted on many matters
involving the construction industry on issues such as the analysis of
the likely competitive effects of mergers, the analysis of monopolization
and predatory pricing claims, and the development of bidding strategies
for public projects. He also has experience in technology licensing
and patent infringement cases. He has estimated damages in semiconductor,
telecommunication technology, and artificial sports surface industries.
He has investigated proposed mergers in oil and gas, tissue paper, construction,
and health and beauty aid industries and has examined predatory pricing
complaints.
Prior to joining MiCRA, Dr. Rockwood served nearly ten years as Assistant Vice
Chancellor of the University of Denver and as an adjunct member of the Department
of Economics. In 1996, Eisenhower Exchange Fellowships, Inc. nominated him to
be a USA Fellow to the Republic of Hungary. Previously, he spent six years as
an economic consultant to numerous Native American Indian tribes working on projects
involving mineral leasing and natural resource development. Before that, he was
engaged in policy analysis and research related to energy and natural resource
markets including oil and gas leasing, deregulation of natural gas, electrical
generation, industrial minerals, and the economics of performance standards.
Dr. Rockwood began his professional career as the corporate economist for the
Public Service Company of Colorado. He has also taught economics at Southwestern
University and the University of Colorado at Denver. |
